Probationary Firefighter, Hamel Volunteer Fire Department

The Hamel Volunteer Fire Department is currently accepting applications for the position of probationary paid on-call firefighter (volunteer). The Department currently consists of approximately thirty volunteers working under the direction of part time (volunteer) Chief Brandon Guest. Desirable qualifications for the position of probationary firefighter include:

1. Certification or ability to obtain certification in NFPA Firefighter I and Firefighter II as administered by the Minnesota Fire Certification Board.
2. Ability to complete the minimum training requirements for a probationary firefighter.
3. Ability to pass a Department administered physical agility exam.
4. Valid Minnesota driver's license.
5. Live or work within the Hamel Volunteer Fire Department service area or within five minutes driving time of the fire station.
6. Ability to meet minimum Hamel Volunteer Fire Department attendance requirements.

Upon completion of all probationary requirements and a successful job evaluation, probationary firefighters will be eligible for promotion to the position of paid on-call firefighter.

Preference will be given to applicants available for day time duty and/or from the Corcoran area. Previous firefighting, hazardous materials or emergency medicine experience and/or training is considered a plus. All training required for this position will be provided as part of employment.

This position is eligible for a pension under the provisions of the Hamel Volunteer Firemens Relief Association.
