Hamel is a small vibrant community located about 10 miles west of Minneapolis Minnesota on State Highway 55. While it contains many aspects of a city including a post office, bank, hardware store, baseball team and (of course) a fire department, it was never incorporated and, therefore, is just part of the City of Medina, MN. Hamel continues to maintain and improve its identity through its many civic organizations including the Hamel Lions, the Hamel Junior and Senior Athletic Clubs and the Uptown Hamel Association.
